Abstract

1. A study was made of some processing properties of metal powders prepared by the atomization method. Differences in chemical composition were found to exist between coarse and fine powder fractions. 2. The effects of particle size distribution on the flow characteristics, apparent density, relative density, and number of spherical particles were determined. 3. Metal powders prepared by atomization of molten metal streams with compressed air exhibit high flow rates and high relative and apparent densities, and contain a high proportion of spherical particles.
