Abstract
Research on Graphene and its suitability for various application is rapidly growing on the prospect of materials science. This is the world first two-dimensional (2D) material which reveals exceptionally high crystal and strengthening quality. Graphene is an efficient conductor, fire resistant, incredibly flexible, yet 200 times stronger than steel and an ultra-light material. Despite in the past few years, it has discovered a cornucopia of the new class of materials with potential applications. Initially, little attention has been focused on Graphene reinforced metal matrix composites (GRMMC) in comparison to ceramic based and polymer based composites. This review gives a comprehensive overview of Graphene, the state of the art Graphene reinforced metal matrix composites, including various processing and characterization methods. Finally, current research trends in GRMMC and potential future scope of applications are presented.
