Abstract

Sequential batch reactor (SBR) technique is one of the waste water treatment methods that are presently used worldwide. Waste water is categorised according to biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), total suspended solids (TSS) and bacterial presence. The TSS is one of the important parameter in the waste water that needs analysis in the water treatment. This paper deals with the determination of process capability, process capability ratio and process capability index of total suspended solids (TSS); using moving range (MR) chart and run rules. The results show that the process capability of final observations of total suspended solids (TSS) is 1.37. The final process capabilities of TSS have been calculated by eliminating the out of control data points. Process capability index (Cpk) of final data of TSS is turned out to be 0.14.
