Abstract

Abstract Different approaches have been used to calculate and set up the benchmarks for evaluation of energy performance in industry. The main disadvantage of these approaches is that the benchmark is variable in time, thus very likely not showing the real performance of energy efficiency and its changes. This study presents a new approach for calculation of benchmarks (process benchmarks) which are based on physical production processes. The approach is approbated on the brewery industry. The results show that the approach can be used for evaluation of energy performance in industry, but there is also need for further research.
