Abstract

The First Seeheim Conference on Magnetism (SCM2001) was held at the Lufthansa Training Center in Seeheim, Germany, from September 9 to 13, 2001. It was focused on the latest developments in specific fields of magnetism (nanostructured materials, surfaces, interfaces and nanoparticles) and covered fundamental aspects of magnetism as well as applications. Specific topical areas were hard and soft magnetic materials, magnetic interactions, magnetization processes and spin-dependent transport properties. The Proceedings of SCM2001 are completed with this collection. The first part is published in the previous issue of phys. stat. sol. (a) 189, No. 2 (2002). The new conference series on magnetism shall be continued with the second meeting, planned for 2004 at Seeheim.
