R. J. Abstract . The need for a new level of instruction in celestial mechanics has arisen because of military and popular interest in missiles, satellites, and astronautics in general. It is proposed that at least two American universities offer a curriculum in celestial mechanics at the graduate level, aimed particularly at satisfying the needs of students in engineer- ing, physics and applied mathematics who wish to prepare for careers in these new fields.
