Abstract

The Fourth International Conference on Internet Multimedia Computing and Service (ICIMCS 2012) was held on the campus of Central China Normal University, Wuhan, Hubei, China during September 7-11, 2012. Wuhan is the capital of Hubei province and the largest city of central China, being a good city for holding this conference thank to she has a convenient transportation and fascinating scenery, especially many lakes being inside and around Wuhan. The 81 scientific participants, 14 of whom are women, had many fruitful discussion and exchanges that contribute to the success of the conference. ICIMCS 2012 focuses on a wide variety of key research issues and investigates new approaches to tackle problems arising from both the fast-growing multimedia data on Internet and users' diverse requirement for multimedia service. ICIMCS 2012 is a forum for researchers from the academia and industry, professionals, standard developers to exchange information on the state-of-the-art of Internet multimedia information processing technologies and applications, as well as to identify the emerging research topics and define the future research directions of multimedia information computing from Internet. We received 60 regular papers and only 32 of them were accepted. Besides the regular papers four special sessions, including 20 papers, were also organized by the leading scientists focusing on the particular topics. We acknowledge the great support of the technical program committee members during reviewing 81 submissions of both regular and special sessions. The many useful comments given by reviewers must have been very valuable for preparing the camera-ready version of the accepted papers and improving the future work of the commented authors as well.
