Abstract
We warmly welcome you to SIGDOC 2010 --- the 28th ACM International Conference on Design of Communication, which is held in the city of São Carlos, State of São Paulo, Brazil. The purpose of ACM SIGDOC 2010 is to bring together academic and industry researchers, as well as computer engineers and practitioners, to address the advance of research and development in the field of design of communication, focusing this year on sustainable communication. ACM SIGDOC provides a leading international forum to bring together researchers and practitioners from diverse fields, such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Documentation, Human Computer Interaction, Multimedia, Graphic Design, Education, Human Factors, among others. The objectives of SIGDOC are: firstly, examine the design principles and performance characteristics of various approaches in Information Technology, and secondly, increase the cross-fertilization of ideas on the development of new ways of communicating information, taking into consideration local and global characteristics. ACM SIGDOC 2010 will foster the development of novel paradigms and advanced solutions in design of sustainable communication, by encouraging idea-sharing and discussions on the underlying logical, cognitive, and experimental foundations as well as the enabling technologies of communication.
