Abstract
The Web3D 2017 Conference is held in Brisbane, Australia at Queensland University of Technology, June 5-8 2017, sponsored by ACM SIGGRAPH. For 22 years the Web3D Conference Series has attracted researchers, software developers and furthering the field of interactive 3D graphics based on open standards. Evolving standards such as HTML 5 and WebGL are making increasingly possible to deliver high quality 3D content over the web without the need for plugins, on the commonly available web browsers. This same approach of standards based development is being applied to virtual reality and augmented reality with the WebVR and OpenXR initiatives. The conference will also address the challenge of moving 3D content into the web development mainstream with contributed papers, Masterclass sessions, and workshops on developing and evaluating educational applications in 3D and in extending search applications into 3D.
