Abstract

The Independent Commission on the Long-Term Prospects of the Onchocerciasis Control Programme considered that a large financial saving would accrue by the less frequent application of larvicides. However, an unsuccessful change in strategy could have serious consequences for the human population, now protected from Onchocerciasis. We investigated the theoretical consequences of various management strategies. The objective is to choose suitable alternatives for detailed field trials.
