Abstract

This volume took origin as a syllabus which accompanied a course in pediatric nephrology given at the Centre International de l'Enfance in 1961. Subsequent demand for copies of that syllabus led to its publication in a revised, expanded version. In its present form, this is virtually a textbook of pediatric nephrology, and one which should find a wide and appreciative audience. It is stated in the preface that this is a book by pediatricians and for pediatricians. Certainly its orientation is clinical, but there is much of value here for all who deal with problems of renal disease in whether at the bedside or in the laboratory. The text is divided into two large sections. The first 339 pages deal with new aspects of renal pathology in childhood, the remainder of the book being devoted to therapeutic considerations.
