Abstract

ABSTRACT This article addresses the following question: can the implementation of the principles of governance lead to lasting development and true democracy in Francophone Sub-Saharan Africa? After defining the paradigm, the author proceeds to show that the implementation of national and international policies based on the principles of governance has led to paradoxical situations and perverse political and economic effects. According to the author, development and democracy can only come from indigenous, internal changes. It implies the creation of a new international order and breaking up the Franco-African “colonial pact.”
