Abstract

The aim of the article is to identify problems and possibilities of improving Ukraine’s energy security in the conditions of new geopolitical threats and their impact on the intensification of internal threats. The level of Ukraine’s energy security in 2007–2016 was calculated and analyzed. The highest sensitivity of the integral index of energy security to the changes of “dependent on imports dominant energy source in total primary energy supply” and “energy intensity of GDP” in the same conditions are determined. Forecast scenarios for changing these indicators in the short-term we are developed. The main tasks of the energy policy of the state in order to improve the energy security of Ukraine are determined. Directions of Ukraine’s cooperation with Poland are proposed, that include: coal supplies from Poland to Ukraine, participation of Polish investors in the privatization of Ukrainian energy sector enterprises, interregional projects in the field of development and implementation of energy-saving technologies in industry and the latest technologies of energy production, distribution and consumption.
