Abstract

This article discusses problems of translation studies in the study of English idioms, their meaning and classification, as well as the influence of idioms on speech, language learning, and literature. English in the modern world is one of the main languages spoken by more than a billion people. It has a huge history, during which many stable phrases and expressions were included in it. Idioms exist in almost all languages; they are phrases or expressions that have a symbolic meaning and cannot be understood in a literal sense. Reflecting everyday situations and metaphors, idioms help convey certain ideas or concepts in language.
