Abstract

Since the first day of the emergency, organized was the surveillance over the water supply provision for the population of the Khabarovsk Territory with a view to decrement of the high water aftermaths. Laboratory control of the water quality was performed in the amplified enhanced mode. Based on the results of the control, necessary measures were operatively undertaken. In accordance with the current legislation procedures, proposals for the improvement of water supply quality, hyper chlorination, and application of alternative ways of water supply were submitted to the local government authorities. The population was warned about consumption of guaranteed quality drinking water only. The problem of fresh water provision in the period of rainfall floods was addressed by means of bottled water supplies delivery to the remote waterlogged areas of the region. Control over the centralized and non-centralized water supply sources, implementation of sanitary-and-antiepidemic activities made it possible to prevent the emergence of acute enteric infection, virus hepatitis A, and other infectious disease outbreaks.
