Abstract

The purpose of the study is to determine the problems and negative consequences of overtourism at the current stage of urban development in the context of world tourism, to find effective solutions to improve the tourist infrastructure of large and small cities, to minimize the negative consequences of tourist activity, to solve the issues of environmentalization of tourist activity in order to create conditions for the implementation of the concept of sustainable development. The methodology is based on the use of methods of systematic analysis and synthesis, which allow to determine quantitatively and qualitatively the main trends and the negative impact of overtourism on the quality and well-being of tourist destinations. The scientific novelty consists in the generalization of the successful practice of the implementation of tourism decentralization projects, in particular the aspect of world experience. Economic aspects are considered in the scientific study, in particular, in determining the ratings of tourist destinations undesirable for tourism, quantitative indicators of the decline in the level of tourist infrastructure of the largest tourist destinations. The problem of greening tourism, moderate travel is highlighted. It is shown that the concept of smart cities, short-term trips minimizes the negative impact of tourism on local infrastructure and the general well-being of both the city itself and its residents. The results of the study make it possible to determine the most priority areas of development and in the future to apply the successful experience of overcoming the overtourism of cities and tourist destinations.
