Abstract

The principal problems that impede the wide use of nondestructive equipment in the operation of forming rolls on sheet rolling mills are studied. The study of the causes for breakdowns of forming rolls gave statistically significant distributions of depths and sizes of flaws in the backup rolls. The causes of impedances to nondestructive testing of the forming rolls are considered.
