Abstract
Leprosy is common in Aborigines in the tropical parts of Australia, and although there is a significant amount of deformity amongst patients, much of it can be corrected or relieved by reconstructive surgery. In the sparsely-populated areas of the north, problems may arise in establishing a surgical service to cope with deformity in leprosy, and these are discussed with reference to those already experienced in the Northern Territory.
