Abstract

One possible answer to the question asked by Arnold Brecht is that this ‘inner voice’ is nothing but an expression of irrational emotions and, hence, any attempts at justification of various judgments of justice are bound to fail. If, as Alf Ross says, “[t]o invoke justice is the same thing as banging on the table”,2 then nothing sensible can be said about justification or defence of the principles of justice.
