Abstract

We present a survey of the research into the problems of fracture mechanics of solid bodies with V-shaped notches. The methods used for the solution of plane problems of the theory of elasticity in the domains with corner points on the boundary contours are analyzed. Special attention is given to the unified approach to the solution of the problems of stress concentration near sharp and rounded V-shaped notches in elastic domains. The fracture criteria for solid bodies with V-shaped notches are analyzed. On the basis of the solution of plane elastoplastic problem within the framework of the model of plastic strips for a plane with infinite rounded V-shaped notch, we propose a new deformation fracture criterion for quasibrittle bodies with sharp and rounded V-shaped notches.
