Abstract

King and Glassmaildeal with U.S. naval experience with steam turbine oil and also, as did the other authors, with the ability of laboratory tests to predict performance and control quality. The subject is of particular interest for, firstly, it concerns marine turbines and secondly because only one grade of lubricant is involved which has to serve both main engines and ancillary equipment in a wide variety of large and small ships and in climatic conditions associated with every sea on the surface of the globe.
