Abstract

The article presents an analysis of the main theoretical approaches to the violation of adaptation and social functioning of patients with bipolar disorder. The main approaches to socio-psychological adaptation in domestic and foreign psychology are presented. The concept of sustainability is disclosed as the ability to recover and grow positively after periods of impaired adaptation. The main areas of disruption of social functioning during the period of pathopsychological manifestations in patients with bipolar affective disorder are outlined: violations of interpersonal and social functioning, professional and educational activities, identity, self-image, emotional regulation, self-service ability. A study is presented that confirms the hypothesis of a decrease in adaptability and social functioning during periods of pathopsychological manifestations (21 people). The presented data can serve as a basis for effective support of patients with bipolar affective disorder.
