Abstract

The validity of some common assumptions underlying the use of γ-transmission measurements for the analysis of conveyed loads is examined. Algorithms have been developed to correct for the breakdown of these assumptions and have been implemented in an instrument to monitor the stone content and mass loading of run-of-mine coal on a conveyor belt.
