Abstract

Specific academic decisions and techniques that the author employed in developing and teaching an Interpretation of Black Drama course at a predominantly White university are discussed. Racial polarization, the composition of a syllabus, the handling of critique sessions, and the paucity of the students' Black aesthetic experiences on an academic level were problems. A list of suggested reading material is also included.
