Abstract

Without pretending to discuss problems or methods of population surveys completely or in an historical manner, I propose to limit my attention to methods of study which might increase our understanding of human evolution. Within this narrower context, the methods proposed are the outcome of a recent investigation using, in general, such an approach.1 Although the data of our research are not completely analyzed, the findings so far give considerable hope that this sort of study will be fruitful in helping to understand some of the processes of human variation and evolution. Some results of this particular survey are reported here.
