Abstract

The topic o f this paper concerns the issue o f the multidimensional threats faced by the EU’s security strategies. Its purpose is to present how the documents analyzed here, namely the European Security Strategy adopted in December 2003 and the EU Internal Security Strategy from 2010, describe and regulate the issue of contemporary security given the challenges and threats of the 21st century. The purpose o f the author is to answer the following research questions: To what extent do the above-named documents characterize contemporary threats? To what degree do the strategies take into account so-called individual security? Do the solutions suggested in these strategies guarantee the efficient protection o f EU citizens from threats?
