Abstract

Objective: Report oral health care actions developed through an intervention project in peri-urban communities in municipalities in the eastern Amazon. Experience report: A descriptive study of the type of experience report that consisted of the use of oral health care resources associated with health education activities, valuing playful strategies. 2488 people were served in 28 communities in the perspective of health promotion. Final considerations: A large part of the peripheral population of cities in the Amazon has limited access to oral health care. This condition is aggravated by the conditions of social vulnerability to which part of this population is involved, such as education, basic sanitation and other benefits that are not adequately available, which reflects the maintenance of oral morbidity. The project provided direct assistance to several communities through strategies such as educational workshops, prevention actions and curative procedures that aimed to positively interfere in the self-care routine, in the incorporation of healthy practices, valuing health as a right with immersion of students in a field of practice that made it possible to reflect on the determinants of health and illness in a privileged context for this reflection.
