Abstract

Problem-solving, an inductive method of education, has been given a minor role in many earth science programs. At Carrie Palmer Weber Junior High School, two ninth grade ten week minicourses use problem-solving as one of the main teaching methods. Anecdotes are used to set up problems to be solved in student investigations. Evaluation of students and fulfillment of their educational needs is enhanced through continued use of problem-solving.
