Abstract

The stratum corneum (SC) as the outermost layer of the human skin prevents the body from excessive water loss as well as xenobiotics. At the moment, the LPP(long periodicity phase) is estimated as essential for the barrier function of the human skin, but the exact molecular structure is still unknown. Therefore, we studied a LPP model of the intercellular lipids of the SC consisting of Cer[EOS], Cer[NS], a free fatty acid-mixture (FFA-mix, C16-C24 saturated) and cholesterol at a molar mixing ratio of 0.3:0.7:1:0.45.
