Abstract

Bulk magnetic AC and DC susceptibility studies have been performed on a polycrystalline SmRhSn sample. The measurements revealed ferromagnetic ordering with a Curie temperature of T C = 14.9(2) K. However, additional magnetic transitions have been found. The thermal variation of the hyperfine parameters has been studied in detail by 119Sn Mössbauer spectroscopy. The distribution of magnetic hyperfine fields observed at the tin sites points to a rather complicated magnetic structure of probably non-collinear character but with the magnetic samarium moments arranged in directions close to the ab-basal plane.
