Abstract

We calculate and discuss the probability and electric quasiparticle current densities in normal metal–insulator–superconductor (N–I–S) junctions. We analyze the nonequilibrium thermodynamic states induced by Andreev reflections and calculate the induced supercurrent in the superconductor as a consequence of these reflections. We find that the induced supercurrent increases as the electric quasiparticle current decreases.
