Abstract

This paper discusses the performance analysis of two generic fundamental parallel search techniques on shared memory multi-processor systems in solving the constraint satisfaction problem (CSP). Probabilistic analysis on their expected computation steps needed and their inherent load-balancing capability is performed. Corresponding experimental results are alsoprovided to verify the correctness of the proposed analysis. This fundamental analysis approach can be further applied to various advanced parallel search techniques or various problem solving techniques on parallel platforms.
