Abstract

A new and effective algorithm is derived for reconstructing the non-ohmic (or 'impressed') part of a current distribution in a conducting medium, given a number of external magnetometer readings. The method allows for a weight function expressing any structure in the source that may be known a priori, and does not make the assumptions on the invertability of matrices used in earlier versions. The numerical implementation is outlined, and estimates derived for the errors caused by truncation of series.
