Abstract

We discuss the usefulness of quantum cloning and present examples ofquantum computation tasks for which the cloning offers an advantagewhich cannot be matched by any approach that does not resort to quantumcloning. In these quantum computations, we need to distribute quantuminformation contained in the states about which we have some partialinformation. To perform quantum computations, we use a state-dependentprobabilistic quantum cloning procedure to distribute quantuminformation in the middle of a quantum computation.
