Abstract

ABSTRACT The bearing capacity of circular pile has been widely treated considering the soil as a homogeneous material. While the soil properties change randomly, which pushed us to use probabilistic analysis. This study presents an evaluation of the undrained bearing capacity of circular pile under lateral loading, assuming that the cohesion of the soil is random variable. A finite element limit analysis, OptumG2, is used in this study. It is found that the increase of coefficient of variation CovSu , decreases the bearing capacity factor of pile Np , in which the effect of increasing adhesion factor becomes less as CovSu increases.
