Abstract

This paper presents the probabilistic analysis of operational events at Swiss Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) performed by the Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate (HSK). An approach was defined in order to obtain the plant-specific risk profile in terms of instantaneous Core Damage Frequency (CDF) for each Swiss NPP, taking into account the specific plant conditions induced by the occurrence of the reported operational events. The risk impact of each event was also assessed by estimating the Conditional Core Damage Probability (CCDP) for the plant configuration associated with the event. As a measure of accumulated risk, the cumulative Core Damage Probability (CDP) over one year of plant operation was calculated and subsequently compared to the plant baseline cumulative risk.
