Abstract

The purpose of this essay is to reflect on proactively innovative organizational actions in sustainability in order to achieve sustainable production and consumption goals (SPC). The essay will emphasize that sustainability leadership, people management for sustainability and supply chain management for sustainability all form a triad of fundaments that can contribute to overcoming “business as usual” towards “sustainable business”. We alert to the fact that the concretization of such aspirations requires the amalgamation of two terms, namely, organizational “proactivity” and “innovation”, without which, the route to building more sustainable organizations tends to be inaccessible.
