Summary

Introduction

The Chinese Government issued a series of policies to regulate the private tutoring (Note 1) industry in August of 2021. Tutoring agencies took more than 60 percent of the market with K12 & STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) Education. This hundreds-of-billions-level market brought heavy financial pressure to the parents, especially for those with multiple children. The research question is whether participating in the English Peer Tutoring Program is effective for students in the Shaxi Middle School. It analyzes the English test scores with other factors. Still, this does not diminish other potential benefits of peer tutoring, such as increasing confidence, chances to make new friends, and acceptance into elite schools.
