Abstract

D'Arcy McNickle's informative article in your Winter 1961-1962 issue (Volume 20, Number 4) on Private Intervention in Indian affairs illuminates the history of the concern of citizens over corruption and ignorance in government. It does not discriminate, however, between such efforts and other private efforts to serve Indians on and off reservations. The record here is much less clear, and needs attention.
