Abstract

Considers a CDMA system under a nonhomogeneous traffic environment, which employs a call control policy of the threshold type giving priority to handoff calls. The criteria is first defined when new and handoff calls are blocked. The authors then suggest an optimization model which is to obtain the threshold value for each cell, minimizing the overall blocking probability of handoff calls with the grade of service requirement for new calls given as a constraint. A solution heuristic is proposed, the effectiveness of which is demonstrated by a number of test runs with realistic input data. >
