Abstract
The purpose of the inventory is to present a comprehensive range of environments analysed in terms of their hazard to three levels of health, namely fitness, health itself and illness (both physical and mental). Part I outlines the conceptual design of the inventory and examines the first categories of health impediments titled Man as Primary Pathogen. Part II (to be published in the next issue) deals with the two remaining categories of environmental health hazards.
