Printing grey scale images on a fax machine

Abstract

Remote, unattended use of video surveillance equipment creates a need for rapid transmission of information when an incident occurs. Equipment has been designed around a T400 system, which transmits a grey scale image and extracted information to the user when an event occurs. This paper describes research on the techniques developed to send these data over a fax link and an evaluation of the image quality achieved.
