Abstract

We demonstrate printed organic Schottky diodes for the rectification of the 13.56 MHz near-field communication carrier wave. Printed silver electrodes covered with a self-assembled monolayer of 4-methylbenzenethiol were employed for the Schottky barrier. Optimizing the conditions of the self-assembled monolayer treatment was performed to improve the rectification ratio to 106 and the forward current density to 1 A cm−2. Finally, organic half-wave and full-wave rectifiers were demonstrated with a high-frequency response of output rectifying voltage of more than 5 V at 13.56 MHz.
