Abstract

We propose a printed multiband terminal antenna for GPS, International Mobile Telecommunications 2000 (IMT-2000), and WLAN (both 802.11a and 802.11b). This antenna is composed of dual radiating elements with dual feeds, which may allow the terminal to access both IMT-2000 and GPS/WLA.N services at the same time. A printed inverted F antenna (IFA) with folded branches is used to operate at GPS and WLAN band, and a printed inverted L antenna (ILA) at IMT-2000 band. The reactive-loaded printed IFA provides the reduced antenna length at the GPS frequency and additional resonances at the WLAN frequencies. Moreover, the printed ILA for IMT-2000 provides 28% (VSWR  2) of wide bandwidth without any matching circuit. The detailed antenna design and results are presented and discussed.
