Abstract
New relay protection algorithms have become necessary because of the special features of microgrid regimes with distributed power generation sources. The approach proposed in the present article assures compatibility of different relay protection devices, the capacity to freely choose different devices on each level and in each protection zone, and the potential for the use of new and different relay protection algorithms implemented in a centralized, decentralized, or mixed variant.
