Abstract
Laser bronchoscopy adds to the tools available for the management of benign and malignant diseases of the pulmonary airways. The indications for laser bronchoscopy are limited but the procedure may be of considerable value in selected patients. The Nd:YAG laser can be used with both the rigid, metal bronchoscope and the flexible fiberoptic bronchoscope. The rigid bronchoscope is safer in many respects. The flexible bronchoscope presents problems of fire and control of bleeding.
