Abstract

This paper discusses several of the issues of concern in achieving effective electric utility load management. Included are a discussion of the distinction between 'conservation' and 'load management', definition of 'controllable load', and a discussion of several criteria necessary to achieve significant changes in system load patterns. Examples are presented of load management applied to typical utility customers.
