Abstract
The distinguished authors of this book are to be congratulated on achieving what might be subtitled The Compleat Pacer . No conceivable aspect of electric stimulation of the heart has been neglected. Every theoretic and practical consideration is covered, bracketed by a concise review of the history of pacing and by commercial aspects of currently available equipment. A great number of helpful illustrations are carefully keyed to the text. The authors and publisher may take particular pride in the production of this book which is of especial help to the reader (who, in this case, is also a user). Section and subsection headings are produced in large, bold, contrasting type faces distributed over well-indented, clearly printed text, so that categorical information is quickly and easily located. One could, in fact, reconstruct the authors' outline quite easily. The illustrations, taken by themselves, are a veritable atlas of pacing. Anyone interested in teaching,
