Abstract

A modified process for the production of ammonium phosphate fertilizer from the middle-quality phosphate ore was proposed. In this process, dilute phosphoric acid produced by the dihydrate process is neutralized by ammonia and the slurry is then concentrated. This effectively solved the scaling in the heater during phosphoric acid concentration. Moreover, the middle-quality phosphate ore containing impurities can now be used. The pilot test showed that the less corrosive, longer operation periodic time, less scaling, and easy cleaning made it superior to the traditional process.
