Principal Series Representations

Abstract

In the next few chapters we will need an understanding of elements of the representation theory of noncompact semisimple Lie groups – esp. those representations which occur in the Plancherei theory. These representations fall into two large classes – the discrete series and the principal series. We will study the principal series in this chapter.
